Zamzar is a free online converter that can convert almost all types of files. When you click on a webpage result, you are taken to today’s version of the website. When you click on the link “View old version on the Internet Archive,” you are taken to the 2001 version of that webpage on the Internet Archive so you can see what the full webpage used to look like.

Search result for ‘bittorrent’ yields no result while in todays search, it shows 5,57,00,000 results!! Search result for ‘ipod’ yields 1,300 search result and that also not related to apple ipod while in todays search, it shows 39,10,00,000 search results!!

Google says that this information is not 100% accurate and also that the 2001 search engine will be available for a month that is till mid october.Also, no ads are being shown in these search results.

The way google announced about this browser itself is different.They announced it by using a comic book. You can read the comic book on google chrome over here.Google stated that they started making Chrome from the ’scratch’ & i must indeed say, they have made quite a browser. The reason it became famous is its speed & being spacious.The speed at which websites load is very fast & Chrome has a spacious interface.

When you open a new tab, you are greeted with shortcuts similar to Speed Dial in Opera.These shortcuts include your most frequently visited sites, site searches you often use, recent bookmarks, and even recently closed tabs (in case you want to reopen a tab).At first it may not seem completely accurate, but Chrome is a quick learner and will show you relevant details over time.

Chrome’s address bar is called omni-bar & has some good options. When you type something into the omni-bar, Chrome automatically shows popular sites, searches & even pages that you have already visited that contains your search terms.

Chrome automatically watches the search boxes you use. So, the next time when you want to search a website, you can directly search from the omni-bar. For eg: If you have already seached a site such as Wikipedia, then the next time when you enter wikipedia.org in omni-bar just press Tab to directly search wikipedia.Doing this adds a blue colored box with wikipedia.org.Now just type your search term & press enter to search wikipedia.

Google Chrome also has a ‘porn mode’ called Incognito mode.When browsing in incognito, none of you acitivity is saved in your computer. This means no history, no files saved in cache, no cookies. You can open incognito mode by clicking on the button on the top-right side of Chrome with the picture of a page and then choosing New incognito window.

Chrome’s tabs are easily rearrangeable but you can also easily break out the tab to another window or form a new window.Dragging & droppping is smooth and easy.

Each tab opens up a new process meaning each tab is seperate & can be closed individually if it becomes stuck.For this Chrome gives you a task manager which gives you a overview of currently running tabs and plug-ins just like windows task manager. You can kill any process any time if any tab becomes non-responsive.To open just press : Shift+Esc.

Chrome allows you to turn any webapp that you keep open all day long like Gmail into a seperate application. By doing so, you have a application dedicated to a particular webapp with its own desktop shortcut, item in the taskbar & a dedicated browser with no search bar, address bar or any other browsing tools. To do this, just click on the button on the right side of omni-bar & the click create application shortcut.

Bookmarking in Chrome is also easy.Just click on the star on the omni-bar to bookmark a site.To open the bookmark bar press : Ctrl+B .You can arrange folders or websites in your bookmark folder on the bar, by dragging & dropping on it from the Other Bookmarks folder on the left side of the bar. If you want to bookmark a site onto a folder, then just drag the Star on the omni-bar & drop it on the folder.

Web developers will be happy to see Google Chrome inspector.To open it, just right click on a website and click inspect element.

Downloads are shown on the bottom of the browser & does not have a download manger that pops up everytime you download something.

The new Internet Explorer has some pretty good features that are new to this version but something that many will like.The first thing i noticed was that i was faster that internet explorer 7.Here are the new features in internet explorer 8:

Accelerators - Accelerators give you ready access to the online services you use everyday.Now if you want get the definition of some word you find on a website or want to get information on it in wikipedia or search the word on the internet, then you don’t have to go to the respective site & search.Just select that word & a blue accelerator icon comes up.Just click on it & a list will pop up with which you can find definition on about the word, or search about it, or even find it on map if its an address.

Visual search - The search bar of Internet Explorer 8 has gotten a lot better with Visual search.Now When you search on it search live real-time suggestions from the search provider & history comes up.With this you don’t have to type for the whole word that you are searching for. You can even get search result & images on what you are searching especially when searching in wikipedia. While searching a list of search providers in Internet explorer 8 is shown so that you can search in which ever search provider you want.

Webslices - Webslices allows you to keep up with your favorite sites directly from the favorites bar.With this you can keep up with sites such as top in digg,  internet buzz on stumbleupon, or even monitor an auction on ebay. When you visit a site which has a webslice, a green Web Slices icon will appear in the upper-right hand corner of the browser.Click on it & it gets added to the favorites bar.Now just click on the site in the favorites bar & you will be able to see the latest things in that site without opening a new tab.

Suggested sites - Suggested sites is a feature of IE8 by which it will suggests some sites by looking at your browsing history.It can be found on the favorites bar.

InPrivate Browsing - InPrivate browsing is a mode of browsing by which no traces of browsing a website is left behind on the computer.It helps your browsing history, temporary Internet files, form data, cookies, and usernames and passwords from being retained by the browser, leaving no evidence of your browsing or search history.You can start InPrivate Browsing by opening a new tab and selecting start InPrivate browsing or selecting it from the Safety button on the top right corner of the browser window.This feature is useful when doing online banking etc. Due to these features it has been dub named as ‘Porn Mode’;

Tab Grouping - With tab grouping when you open a link from a webpage to be opened in a new tab, both the tabs will have a particular color. This helps in knowing which site was opened from where & also helpful in organizing them.

Smart Address Bar- Internet Explorer 8 has a brand new address bar to tackle Firefox’s Awesome Bar.When you type something in the address bar the Smart Address Bar offers useful suggestions from your browsing history, favorites, and feeds. Single words are matched to simple domain names, making Web surfing fast and efficient.

Find on Page - Internet Explorer 8 has a new search bar that opens up on top of the website when you click ctrl+f which makes the searching for words on a website much easier.

New Tab - When you open a new tab in IE8, You are given a list of closed tabs, an option to start InPrivate Browsing, use an Accelerator on the last word that you copied.

Compatibility View - Being just released, many websites may not be viewable.So Internet Explorer 8 has a Compatibility View button by which you can view the website.It is found just on the right side of the address bar.

Domain highlightning - When you visit a site, Its domain alone is highlighted in the Address Bar. This helps alert you to Web sites that are imposters of trusted sites, thus reducing the chance of compromising your personal information.

Internet Explorer 8 has many other features like Improved Zooming, SmartScreen filters, Automatic Crash Recovery etc making it a great tool to have.

Internet Explorer is still in Beta stage meaning it still has some bugs to solve, so you might face some problems, but the chances are less as it is in Beta 2 & so has been tested by developers.One thing i noticed about IE8 is that it opens two iexplorer.exe processes instead of one in IE7.Also, Internet Explorer 8 is using a lot of RAM unlike IE7. Its using 80 MB while IE7 used 40 MB.

It seems downloading IE8  does not need validation from microsoft update site meaning even pirated versions can download it.

Internet Explorer 8 is a great & improved version of Internet Explorer that has a lot of features.
